what inspired me to make the work I have?

Grayson Perry’s ceramics inspire me for their ability to tell deeply personal and social stories through a traditional medium. The combination of intricate craftsmanship and bold, subversive imagery feels both intimate and confrontational, encouraging reflection. For my photography, his approach to layering narrative and challenging norms offers a fresh way to explore theme visually and conceptually.
John Baldessari (1931-2020) was an American conceptual artist who used cutouts and other techniques to create new meanings from existing images. His work often involved recontextualizing images to subvert traditional narratives and binary oppositions.

Claes Oldenburg is a Swedish sculptor who explores the notion of ‘The everyday made extraordinary’, he is a sculptor who takes every day, familiar objects and makes them larger than the human scale. I love this idea of creating a completely new meaning from something that is known.

EXPERIMENTING WITH COLLAGE
Collage is a way for me to combine all of my thoughts and ideas into one place. Much like surrealism it has no contraints or rules. I love using a mixture of media and images to create a completely new image - reframing what it means. It plays on this idea of finding beauty in the mundane. Using a mixture of my own photographs, magazines, books, paint, and digital I completely let go of all inhibitions when collaging. Trying to delve into my subconcious mind and create something surreal.

Initial experimentation with ceramics
my intital experimentation involved using my imagination to create ceramic pieces - I wanted to get used to the wheel and create a mix of useful every day objects mixed with more surreal ideas
